BBQ Outreach Events: Smoking Hot Evangelism
A dark grey BBQ Outreach trailer with "GOD Squad", "WWW.GODSQUAD.CA", and "GRILLERS on the MIST BBQ TEAM" logos.
For 28 years, God Squad has been a steadfast presence in the greater Calgary area, with a dedicated team of volunteers tirelessly organizing annual Lenten conferences and numerous BBQ Outreach events. These initiatives have served a wide array of communities, including schools, parishes, prison ministries, First Nations communities, men's and women's ministries, football teams, and sacramental celebrations, among many others. Our foundational efforts have been sustained by a straightforward fundraising model that has consistently covered our basic operational costs. As we embark on the planning for our 29th annual conference, we are excited to announce a pivotal transition and expansion: God Squad is evolving into HeroicMen. This transformation reflects our broader vision to cultivate a nationwide movement dedicated to equipping and inspiring men across Canada. Over the past two years, we have taken bold steps to extend our ministry's reach into new cities, dioceses, and leadership networks. Through the generous support of our donors, we have successfully secured funding for a full-time Executive Director. This critical development has empowered us to engage more deeply with bishops across Canada, launch men's retreats in St. John, NB, and Prince George, BC, and provide assistance for inaugural men's conferences in Kelowna and Winnipeg. Additionally, we are committed to empowering ministries with essential event management tools and collaborating with national leaders to develop Canadian content for HeroicMen.ca, thereby fostering and elevating homegrown Catholic voices like Bishop Scott McCaig. While we celebrate these significant accomplishments, we recognize that this is just the beginning. To sustain this momentum and further expand our impact, strategic investment in administrative support and essential services is crucial. We extend an invitation to you to join us in building something even greater as HeroicMen continues to grow and profoundly influence lives across the nation.

We need your help!
The God Squad has acquired a barbecue outreach trailer, and we’ve begun to provide cooking service for a number of events and organizations.
So far the trailer and team have cooked eight turkeys for the CWL family dinner, a whole wild boar for the Knights of Columbus family dinner, and we fed 150 hungry Bantam and Pee Wee football players. The trailer will be cooking at Feed the Hungry, the Boys and Girls Club, and other outreach-type opportunities.
The purpose for providing this service is to make further inroads into the community, and to spread the God Squad message to more and more men.Although I know a lot of people and I am not afraid to ask for help, I figure if I ask all of you to make the inquiries, it will be of much more fruitful outcome. We are looking for sponsors for this trailer. For $500, a sponsor will have their logo on the side of the trailer approximately 18″ x 18″ in size. We are also looking for quality suppliers if you have contacts with wholesale hot dog, chicken, and/or beef suppliers.
We will be looking to promote the 2012 conference by barbecuing at a few parishes in the coming months.
Any leads for either cooking opportunities or sponsorship you wish to forward, please contact Sean Lynn at: sean@godsquad.ca
